Hi

There are a few methods to secure a database.  Disableing the bypass (holding down the shift key) is proberbly to worst method as it so easy to get around.

ie.
Close all you programmes.
Open Access - but don't try and open any databases
Press     Alt F11
Open (view) the imedditate window
Don't do anything else with this for now

Go back to the access icon and click it
Open your database in the normal method

Go back to the imeditate window and change the code(s) to allow you do what you want

I say it the worst method, it's not really, the worst method would be doing nothing.  Disable the skift key will normally stop a standard user (who know nothing about programming) in a work enviroment from messing about with your application, but it will NOT stop anyone who understands even the basics from getting into your codes.  You can search on user level security in the help files for more info (but even that can be got around).

Try this

Follow the steps I gave above
Alt  F11  etc then open the vsiual basics edit
click Tools -> digital sigature -> choose ->then select one -> ok
if there isn't one already there or you want to change it is there is one
when you get to signatur dialog box you can add your own signature

don't forget that you still need to follow all the steps I gave before so you have to open the editor "then" the database - as you can't add a signature to something that isn't open

Hope this helps

If you still have more problems then post back

Are you sure it's a signature problem ?

if so have a look at this from the MS help file
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Aa141471

Also you could try createing a new blank database and under the File options use the Get External Data.
1st bring in all the tables and see if you can open them in design view
Then the querries and see if you can open them in design view
Then the forms
Then the modules

Each time you bring something in in to your new database ensure you can view it in design view and then start on the next step.  This may take quite a while for a large database !

There are a few possibilities

1st thing to do is to make a backup of the database – even if you can't get into it now.Save it with a different name.

Was database you are trying to open created in other versions of access.Whateverthe marketing people at MS tell people; this always seems to cause problems.

If the DB was created in Ac 2003 then you need to remove any signatures and then open the DB in that programme

You could try using a backup of the database

You could contact the person who created the DB and ask them if there is a password needed.

Have a look at this website
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=823225

Have you Decompiled ?

Have you tried compact and repair

If the database had a signature added in a later version of access than the one it was created in "or" the version you are trying to open it in this will cause the unavailable message to appear (this is in the MS knowledge base)

As a last resort (make a backup with a different name 1st)

BEFORE your do this ?? Read this on the MS website
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823225

On your backup database

Use Tools->Replecation-Create Replica
Then (on the replica) use Tools->Recover Master Design
